Kinetic energy from currents in the Greater North Sea and Celtic Seas (2001) for the EMODnet Seabed Habitats project

GeoTiff datasets of average kinetic energy (ke) per square metre at 1m from the seabed due to currents in the Greater North Sea and Celtic Seas. Numbers in the Geotiff names refer to the percentiles, e.g ke100.tif is the maximum current kinetic energy or the 100th percentile and it includes all values, whilst ke90.tif contains the 90th percentile kinetic energy values obtained when the highest 10% of values are excluded. The ke time series was based on 30 minute output from tidal models run for 2001, considered to be a typical year. Units are N/m^2. Raster cell size of 300m.

The layers are built using data from National Oceanographic Centre (NOC) current models (the CS20, CS3 and NEA models at resolutions of 1.8km, 10km and 35km respectively).
